I enjoy 'random rap'. Most of my random rap is pointless, themeless, and is normally rendered impromptu after ensuring that my audience is more inebriated than I am.

Needless to say, most of my 'masterpieces' never (literally) see the light of day.

This one is different. Titled, Cloud Cloud Maybe, it is a parody on cloud computing & storage.

I don't know why I create more blogs than blog posts.

Vintage Car & Superbike rally - Malt Whiskey & the Marlboro Man

Last evening, my wife, Tina mentioned that there was a Vintage Car & Superbike Rally starting off from Besant Nagar - a beachfront locality which is a few km up north from where we live. We tried finding out when it was scheduled for but after a couple of attempts on Google, gave up!

This morning, a couple more attempts on Google (when I learnt the difference between a vintage car and a classic car) revealed that the last such rally started at 9am; assuming that 'rallyists' were creatures of habit, 9am it was!

I'm glad we took that bet!

The beach was packed - with an array of bikes, seemingly from WWI & II, and their more modern souped up progeny from this century. The vintage & classic cars on display were even more interesting - as were the people who so painstakingly and lovingly maintained these relics.

Oh, and the kids had a blast; though in their eyes the powerbikes were all that mattered. They couldn't fathom why we were so excited at seeing old cars and the little enthusiasm they could muster must have been the result of us getting them to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang some months ago.

The attitudes of the powerbikers and the vintage car rallyists was a study in contrast. The former were all revved up and pretended not to notice all the adulation they (rather their bikes) were getting - the cool, aloof 'Marlboro Man' look. Their older counterparts in the rally exemplified 'vintage' - they slowed down to let us take picture, smiled & waved to us and had the general demeanor of people who had 'seen life' and who took the time to live their passions! Mellow, like malt whiskey!

Old Year Resolution

Call it superstition, but after overcoming a whole lot of inertia, I'd finally decided on starting my blog exactly a week ago - on New Year's Eve. I'd given up on the idea of coming up with something truly spectacular for that 'very first blog' and simply decided that it would be titled 'Old Year Resolution' as that's exactly what it was - I'd resolved to start a blog in 2006; obviously like many new year resolutions, this old year resolution was not to be. So here it is, a whole week later - my 'old year resolution' post.

Hopefully, this provides that starting impetus I so much needed - and that future posts encounter less resistance. Time will tell!
